It’s tough for me to write something on November 22nd, 2013 without thinking back to the same day in 1963. In 50 years the immediate shock and a sense of disbelief have gone away but the grief and sense of loss haven’t changed. I lost a childhood hero that day.

What does this have to do with autism-friendly family vacations ? That, after all, is the purpose of this blog. In truth, not that much, other than to say that JFK was a hero to me because he inspired me so.

His memory inspires me still. He urged us to make the world a better place. “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country”. I still want to do that and my small part is to help families with kids on the spectrum to get out there and see the world.

The next post will be back to doing just that.  That post will be after the holiday so, in the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving to all.
